Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn, our mentor and friend, passed away December 5, 2009, and was laid to rest Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

Jim touched millions of lives over the past 46 years through his seminars, books, articles and CDs. His life’s passion and inspiration was making a difference in people’s lives.

The Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Jim Rohn event was held in Anaheim, California, on Saturday, February 6, 2010. Family, long-time friends and many special guest speakers, including Anthony Robbins, Les Brown, Brian Tracy, Chris Widener, Denis Waitley and Darren Hardy, paid tribute to Jim by sharing their thoughts and insights on some of his most powerful success principles. The event was attended by more than 1,300 people whose lives have been impacted by the wisdom of Jim Rohn.

The event was filmed and video clips will be posted here at a later date.

He loved making a difference in people’s lives, that was his passion and inspiration. Yet he was also a private man who kept a small, loyal and caring inner circle. He was a tremendous friend to those who knew him.

Harold Dyke, long time close friend of Jim’s for over 55 years said it best, “As Jim is ending one life he is simultaneously being birthed into a new life. One that he has talked about over the years and anticipated with great joy in his last remaining days.”

Someone once said “when you are born you enter the world crying while everyone else is rejoicing and when you die hopefully you have lived such a life that everyone will be crying while you are rejoicing”. Jim Rohn lived such a life.

We know Mr. Rohn is looking down on us at this very moment with a smile saying I did it, I gave it my all, I went for it, now it’s your turn. Go for it. Make your life a life worth living well!

Jim fondly closed his programs with the following sentiments: “I go with you in all the experience that we’ve had. But I promise you this as we leave here: I will not leave you behind. I’ll take you with me in my thoughts and in my heart.”

Wow, where do I start? The teachings of Jim Rohn have had such a significant impact on my life. When I found Jim through his books and CDs, I had been through a very tough time in my life. I knew I wanted things to change but I lacked direction. As Jim says, when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Jim taught me how to set goals and to exercise the discipline to see them to fruition. Since Jim entered my life, I have completed a masters program, nearly doubled my income, met the woman of my dreams, and had a beautiful daughter. On the day Jim passed, I was completing yet another major goal; I ran my first marathon. At mile nineteen, I hit the wall and felt like quitting. It was Jim's words that kept me going and brought me across the finish line. I am not a very spiritual person but I know that Jim's spirit was with me on that day. We heard Jim Rohn first in the spring of 1978 at a "free" evening talk and were so impressed we came to the weekend retreat with our then 16 year-old son, John. Jim Rohn was the reason I went from having a "short fuse" to letting virtually nothing upset me any longer. I'll never forget the feeling I had, sitting in an audience of about 35,000 people - yet feeling he was talking directly to ME, when he related a story about getting stuck in traffic and knowing he would be late for a meeting. He said that instead of getting all worked up and stressed out, he simply wondered what great thing was in store for him, due to the unexpected delay....because nothing happens without a reason and how you perceive things, how you react to them, is entirely up to you. Look for the positive things in your life, not the negatives. I believe that that one moment in my life, listening to and learning from...no being 'spoon feed' what I needed from...Mr. Rohn, gave me the ability to deal with finding out my 9 year old son had a brain tumor. In the following months, as our world was seemingly, totally collapsing around us, I was able to remain calm (for the most part) and walk through the "valley of the shadow of death". I spoke to God many times during that first year, but I also thought of (and felt counseled by) Jim many, many times as well...and I still do. God Bless you Jim Rohn. I lost my father in June 1981…shortly after I was invited to see Jim Rohn at the Red Lion in Costa Mesa (Newport Beach, Ca.) My dear girlfriend Judy Chubb and I were so Impressed I 21 she 20. You were recounting stories about getting great auto service, getting chocolate shakes and a single rose. My dear girlfriend and I held you as our gooru for many years –she too lost her father in 1982. The fact we had both lost our fathers---meeting you – we both picked you, JR to fill the void. YOU were like a father to both of us. Together my amazing best friend and I would follow Jr for Many years! Purchasing Tapes sharing our thoughts…as I recall it was January 1997 when Judy and I convinced our husbands to attend a JR event at the Anaheim Hilton. Dear friend Judy was expecting! I still have our journals of the weekend – JR would be so proud of the GOALS we have achieved. Judy Chubb – DeCero did not live to see JR’s passing. She beat him to the finish at the tender age of 45 in May 2007. I am so pleased they are reunited…JR =-let her know that her kids are amazing. Can’t wait to be reunited!
